Cannabidiol Products

Cannabidiol (CBD) is the cannabinoid being studied the most for it's beneficial health properties.

Many products are being made with Cannabidiol and following is information on the effectiveness and absorption efficiency of each method.

First of all, a brief explanation on Cannabidiol.

Cannabinoids are unique to the cannabis plant family (hemp & marijuana). These plant based phytocannabinoids (phyto = plant based) act on cell receptors in the human body and have many beneficial health effects.

There are well over 100 cannabinoids and the focus is on a few that have shown the most positive health benefits for the human body.

Other cannabinoids being studied for their effects are Cannabigerol (CBG), Cannabinol (CBN) and Cannabichromene (CBC)

THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) is the cannabinoid responsible for the "getting high" feeling. It also has beneficial health effects but most of the study is being done on Cannabidiol (CBD), the one showing the most promise for healing benefits. The healing effects of THC also seem to be strongly connected to other cannabinoids being present at the same time.

For example, the more CBD that is present when THC is taken, the more the effects of THC are modified.

Neither THC nor CBD are present in the plants in any significant quantity until heat is applied. Smoking, vaporizing  or pre-heating it before adding to edibles or liquids causes a process called decarboxylation, turning the tetrahydrocannabinolic acid (THCA) and cannabidiolic acid (CBDA) into THC and CBD.

Also, the cannabidiolic acid (CBDA) can be converted to CBD in the human body, so taking the plant or plant juice raw can work very well although this will not work the same way for THC. The body will not make THC from the tetrahydrocannabinolic acid in raw plant material.

Absorption & Effectiveness Levels of Cannabidiol Products

Cannabidiol works best when used as a whole plant extract instead of an isolate. A whole plant extract contains other ingredients that work synergistically together and the sum of the parts can work many times better than one isolated part or ingredient.

Isolates can be effective for healing, but not as effective as a whole plant extract, whether the extracts are from the cannabis family or any other plant family.

So, when you are shopping for CBD products, choose full spectrum oil products instead of isolates. They will be much more effective.

Vaporizing (Vaping)

Super Purity Vape Oil

The Fast & Powerful Effects of Smoking Without The Hassle

Vaporizing is the quickest method of getting CBD absorbed into the body, although any smoking method is quick. Inhalation has an almost immediate effect because the active ingredients enter the bloodstream through the lungs. This bypasses the digestive system and is also a quicker absorption method than skin cream products.

Vaporizing also avoids the strong odors from smoking a joint or pipe as well as being more convenient.

There are also different methods of vaping and each has its advantages and disadvantages.

This includes pen style vaporizers, portable vaporizers (larger than the pen vapes), desktop vaporizers (larger, need electricity and are more efficient) and dabbing.

Dabbing is a form of vaporization usually used because of the faster, powerful kick it gives when using THC concentrates but it can also be used with CBD products.

Vaporizers use two types of heating elements:

1. Conduction Method. This method works by direct contact of the oil with the heating  element surface. It can be hard to regulate temperature with this method but they are very simple to use.

2. Convection heating works by passing heated air evenly over the plant material.. The heating element never comes in direct contact with the plant material. Desktop and home-use vaporizers use this method, which is more easy to control and more efficient..

CBD Tinctures

CBD Pure Tinctures

Using The Slowest, Most Effective Extractions Methods Resulting in Unmatched Purity!

Tinctures can be taken orally the following ways:

  • Squirt on the back of the tongue and swallow.
  • Sublingual (place under the tongue and let slowly absorb for a few minutes, then swallow the remainder). If the tincture is alcohol based, you might want to dilute in water or juice, since it may sting under the tongue.
  • In food or liquids.
  • As capsules.

Depending how long since you've eaten and what you have eaten can affect the rate of absorption with oral methods.

Experiment and see what works for you but for fastest absorption, take it on an empty stomach (first thing in the morning) or a couple hours after eating.

The sublingual method is very fast - faster than other oral methods and may start acting in a couple minutes. The blood vessels in the mouth can absorb cannabinoids very quickly similarly to the way blood vessels in the lungs absorb cannabinoids rapidly.

Other oral methods typically take effect from thirty to sixty minutes (for alcohol tinctures) and the effects are long lasting - six to eight hours.

Alcohol tinctures absorb quicker than oil based products. For oil based products, add 20 minutes to above time estimates for absorption but the effects also last six - eight hours.

Some tinctures use glycerin as a base instead of alcohol or oil. Make sure it's pure and not from GMO products or an industrial by-product.

Cannabidiol Edibles

CBD Gummies

A Delicious Edible Pick-Me-Up.

Long Lasting Effects & Perfect for An Afternoon Energy Boost.

CBD edibles are a fast-growing category in the cannabis industry. Gummy bears, lollipops, energy bars, chocolate treats and probably more coming in the near future.

It's hard to regulate dosage this way unless you are very careful how much you eat, although no critical danger like prescription drug overdosing. Taking too much CBD does not usually cause serious side effects, but it can be temporarily uncomfortable and  last for a few hours.

Lozenges and lollipops are other quick absorption methods due to absorption through blood vessels in the mouth, as in tinctures. A little longer than tinctures but still fairly quick acting. Get pure lozenges - no chemical additives and natural sweeteners.

There are also sublingual CBD strips (similar to breath strips) that are convenient and fast acting.

Topical Products

Topical CBD oil products are good for localized relief of pain, inflammation, sore muscles, arthritis and skin conditions such as psoriasis and rashes.

Salves, oils, lotions and skin creams are available. Topicals are good for problems that are not very deep in the body.

Transdermal patches are effective and will have their ingredients absorbed effectively into the bloodstream.

Suppositories are another very effective way to absorb CBD oil products. This method bypasses the digestive system, so absorption is more efficient.
